The Anatomy suit , and the 1/2 marathon .
“Hey , check it out . ”
“Oh my God ! Look ! ”
” THAT IS AWESOME !!! ”
The crazy suit caused quite a stir , far more than anticipated . The attention that it garnered provided me , the wearer an opportunity to meet and touch runners and runnin fans of all levels . ” Thank You” , to everyone that commented , shook my hand , took a picture , or simply experienced any reaction .
The anatomy suit was created as a visual learning tool to be used during personal training sessions . Visual learning works well for many people , the varied reactions during the Expo , and on race day all but confirm that . Competing with a team of 18 people that had been coached to adhere to the strictest bio-mechanics , the suit was meant to serve as their reminder to use “movements and not muscles ” . Little did I know that it would inspire so many to thought and opinion . Called a muscle suit , body suit , muscle guy , or whatever clever witicism might dictate , the suit was a hit . Thanks P.F. Changs . Thanks Rock n Roll Phoenix.
The WeHateLarry.com team consists of athletes of all ages , aptitude , and athletic experience . Ranging from 13 to 63 years old , our TEAM members are challenged to compete with their potential . From walkers to runners , we trained together , sharing failures and successes , all while improving our endurance , strength , flexibility , and courage . Relying on a training system design to teach , rather than train , each individual was encouraged to develop as a runner , rather than “run through the pain ” .
The suit ? That was to create a spoltlight for the group of people that called themselves Team WeHateLarry.com . This dedicated bunch allowed me to tiner with their form , push their physical limits , and trusted my abilities as their own . The suit is a tribute to this group of athetes that allowed me to train with them in an effort to create a fitness system that works for everyone . Thank you , thank you , thank you . As the pics and results roll in , there will be more posts , featuring videos of the suit fabrication ,training days , and an updated race schedule .
The kids did such great job that I have included a sample video in their honor. With all claiming to be ” non-runners” , we created training programs that utilized their strengths to enhance their weaknesses . I could not have hoped for better results , with all finishing , and Justin Renner out sprinting me at the tape to take the lead for our team .
Thanks again , for proving that through dedication , muscle re-education , and a willingness to learn , the body will always do what the mind commands . At the start , I heard people say ” I can’t run , ther’s no way I will finish . ” Those people were right . We did not train as individuals , nor did we race as individuals . Alone , you probably can’t … but
Together , WE CAN !!!
